Local 265's Membership,
We are in the final few days of the legislative session, and although the legislative negotiations are continuing, there is still No agreement on a bill to keep the nuclear plants in our State open. We have supported the Climate Union Jobs Act (CUJA), which we see as the only viable legislative initiative that will keep our State's nuclear plants open.
In an effort to make a final legislative push, LOCAL 265 will be joining the Climate Jobs Illinois Coalition (CJI) for a rally. It will be held on the Capitol Building lawn this Friday, May 28th at 10:00 a.m. CJI is asking our membership to show up in Springfield to help send a clear message to the Governor and legislators regarding the importance of the nuclear plants to our communities.
I understand this is happening on short notice, but we are at a very critical time. Exelon has made it very clear that absent a legislative agreement, the Byron and Dresden Stations will close this year and the LaSalle and Braidwood Stations will close within the next five years. We need to come together and help with this legislative effort.
For those who wish to join this effort, please contact one of the following:
Kevin Galass: (224) 277-8872
Brian Dahlman: (630) 940-6159
Matt Gugala: (224) 277-7303
Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those who have died in service of the United States of America. This weekend, Remember Everyone Deployed, have a moment of silence for everyone who has given their lives in the service of our country, pray for those who continue to carry the weight of combat and for those who have lost their lives from the weight they have carried.
Local 265, in honor of everyone deployed, has created the shirts below and they are available in the union office for $15.00.
Fraternally,
Business Manager/President
